E n one occasion Ekido Tanzan and walked together for a muddy road. Heavy rain fell.
Rounding a bend, they met a lovely young woman dressed in a silk kimono, which could not cross.
"Come girl "said Tanzan at once. And taking her in his arms, raised above the mud. Ekido
not speak again until evening, when they came to a monastery. Then he could not contain himself. "We monks should stay away from women," he told Tanzan, "especially if they are young and charming. It is dangerous. Why did you do that? ".
"I left the girl there," said Tanzan. "Do you still carry with you?".
